Not a good game

Adam Jr. had soccer game on Saturday. He took a HARD hit in the second quarter and actually had to be carried off the field and briefly recover on the side line. The team they played was very good, and beat our team easily. In the car on the way back to his mom's house I told Adam, "Good game buddy." He replied, "Jen, it was NOT a good game." I thoughtfully considered my response, and then replied, "You are right Adam, it was not a good game for your team." He said, "We lost?" "Yes buddy you guys lost, about 12-0." He replied, "We would have won if I wouldn't have gotten tackled by that kid and got hurt."

I pondered this. Really buddy, really, that would have changed the course of the game. You have not scored a goal all year. This team really wiped the floor with you guys. It was never even close. But instead I responded, "Its your story bud, tell it how you want to." My husband glanced over at me and just laughed.
