And this one belongs to the Reds!!!
That's right folks, the Reds clenched the Division Title, the fall weather has set in, school has started, and I reflect on the summer and how we spent our time. I realized that I am proud of us. We are not a perfect family, we are certainly not perfect parents, in fact, we have that whole "blended/step-mom/step-kids" thing going on to magnify any and all of our mis-steps. Yet, when you experience a week like this, you have to reflect... A walk-off homer in the bottom of the 9th to secure the Division Title. Now, you believe that you can come from behind to win. That sometimes the good guys really do come out on top. That the young lefty who struggles to hit the lefties will be the hero for just one night. And then you think...we won too. Sure we lose a few games along the way. But this morning as we ran around getting ready singing, "Take me out to the ballgame!" at the top of our off-key lungs, I realized we are not only really excited about the opportunity to go to the Reds game tonight. We are pumped about the kids trying cracker jacks for the first time. We are ecstatic to be able to take our whole family to a game because we both remember what that was like as kids and we smile. Why...because most importantly WE ARE HAPPY. Looking back at the Ruschman season I think...
1. We celebrate the good times. The first gold outing. A family wedding. Playing with our cousins in the sandbox when our Aunt is finally well again. Those are all gifts. And when you get a gift, you need to remember to say,' thank you.'

3. We got to block parties and parades in our hometown. We know and like our neighbors and their kids. We drink beer and sit on the porches and solve all the world's problems. We watch out for one another.

2. We play outside and get wet and dirty. All the time. Even when we might think we would prefer to play the Wii or watch TV, we go outside. We dig for bugs. We pour water into the sandbox to make mud. We ride our bikes and skin our knees and are better kids for it.

3. We got to block parties and parades in our hometown. We know and like our neighbors and their kids. We drink beer and sit on the porches and solve all the world's problems. We watch out for one another.

4. But mostly we try our best. And like the Reds on Tuesday night, sometimes we have to just sit back for a night and enjoy the win!!
