Rosa Parks

Last week the older kids and I went into TJ's daycare to pick him up. On the wall there they have pictures of Black leaders from history. Ashley points at Rosa Parks and says, "That's Rosa Parks." So I probed, "Do you know what she did for America?" Ashley answers, "She stood up for Black people and made a difference because she sat in the back of the bus and refused to move. You know, they didn't let Black people sit in the back of the bus." I replied, "Almost, but it was the front of the bus Ash, they used to not let Black people sit in the front of the bus, only White people were allowed to ride there." She looked at me as if I were crazy and replied, "That's dumb, who wants to sit in the FRONT of the bus, everyone always wants to ride in the BACK of the bus, that is where the older kids get to sit."
