I love ALL my parents

Adam Jr. and I were home just the two of us (after TJ went to bed) a couple of Friday's ago. He decided he wanted to build a tent. So we were crammed into the tent built with covers for over an hour. My back was killing me, but somehow I never feel in a big blended family that I get enough one on one time with each kiddo, so I stayed inside the tent. We were playing with the flashlight and he was talking about his family. I asked him if he loved his family more than the "whole wide world." Which is kind of our thing...he replied. "Of course. I love my parents more than the whole wide world." I replied, "Do you love your mommy?" "Yes" he answered emphatically. "How about your daddy" I joked. "Yes" he said even louder and now he was laughing at my game. I went through all of his brother and sisters, each time with a resounding "YES!" as he giggled. Then I said, "Do you love me buddy?" He looked at me, shook head with exasperation and said, "I ALREADY said that I loved ALL my parents!" "Oh that's right!" I giggled. But I must tell you, inside, I was full of emotion. I am a parent to them, not a mommy or a daddy, but a stepmom, and for him to know and understand how I feel about them, that I love them each as a parent too. That was something worth sticking around in the tent for!
