The background that is important for this post is that last year, Adam Jr.'s mom signed him up for karate. We told her that based his trying it out at school, we did not think he would participate, but he assurred her he would, and so she signed him up. Week after week he would cry, throw himself on the ground, hide, and generally do anything possible to avoid going to or participating in karate.
Now, the other day I left the kids in the car for a moment while I ran TJ into daycare. I will not do this again. I came right back out and they told me they were scared while I was in there, because it was dark. Ashley then proceeded to ask me for the 100th time, "What are we supposed to do if someone we don't know comes up to us? What about if they say they know our daddy? What if they know our family password?" And I again reviewed the answers. Then Ashley throws a new one at me, "What if someone we don't know grabs us, even though we were not talking to strangers, and tries to take us away?" Well this obviously startled me, but I answered, "You should kick and yell as loud as you can, 'This is not my Daddy!'" To which Adam Jr. replied, "You know what Jen, you don't have to worry, I know karate!" I could not help it, I laughed out loud. Sensing my reaction, he elaborated, "I mean I KNOW karate, but I might not use it until I am like 12 or something."
