Maybe I Should Leave the room?

Every evening we have the following conversation with the kids:

US: Sit Down and do your homework
KIDS: I need a pencil
US: Sit down and do your homework
KIDS: I have to go the bathroom
US: Sit down and do your homework
KIDS: I NEED help (when they have not attempted a single problem yet)

So the other day Laney was doing homework and it was taking her a while. I was filling Adam in on my day (which had some work related conflicts) in between making dinner and him helping her with homework. At one point Laney interrupts (my BIGGEST pet peeve unless you say excuse me) and says, "Um...do you guys want me to go into the other room?" Immediately I responded, "No, I want you to sit down and do your homework." I continue. She interrupts, "Excuse me, are you sure you do not want me to go into the other room?" At this point I am about to lose it. "NO! Why would I want you to go into the other room?" Laney calmly and with a slight smile replied, "Because you said the 'B' word...so I thought you might want me to wait in the other room."

Busted...
